Children’s and family Portraits
Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory
- Dr Seuss
Children’s Portrait sessions are a lot of fun! Dancing, kung fu moves and sibling cuddles are all activity encouraged; we may even get out the confetti for some added hilarity! I will capture your child’s unique character, moments of joy, laughter or even cheekiness in a way that you will be proud to display for years to come.
Younger children will enjoy playing with the range of beautiful wooden toys that I have in the studio or watching bubbles drift onto their outstretched hands.
It’s not just about the children though. This is also your time to step out from behind your cameraphone and be visible with your children. I know many parents feel self-conscious about being photographed - myself included! - but I will help to make you feel comfortable and at ease in my private studio and, as many photographs will involve playing with your child, it should even be a fun experience!
I can provide you with styling advice before your session so you feel prepared and confident. I use soft lighting, give you posing tips and employ sensitive post-production techniques to ensure that you look your best so that the resulting photographs are ones that you love and that you are proud to share.
“After missing out on many wonderful milestones during lockdown we decided to have a family photo session to celebrate my little boy turning 18 months. From the start Lucy walked us through every step, she covered such key points that we hadn’t considered like our wardrobe choices which completely made a difference to the look of the pictures. On the day we had some challenges and a slightly unsettled little one, this didn’t phase Lucy and she still captured some beautiful shots. Following up she didn’t disappoint and really spent the time going through each photo, offering wise feedback and lots of needed compliments. We will be using Lucy again in the future for sure. I cannot recommend her enough.”

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to Photograph my CHILD?
Sessions will last for up to 1 hour. You know your child best and know when they are likely to be on top form. A hungry, tired child is not going to be keen on anything, let alone being in front of a camera, so please think carefully about what time of day suits them best and I will try to accommodate that. It should be a really enjoyable experience, and I have regularly had feedback to say that children had so much fun they’d like to come back for more!
Is it possible for my partner and other children to be included in the session?
You value photographs of your family and may well take lots on your phone to record special moments, but how often are both you and your partner in those photos together? It is definitely worth capturing a full family photo as this will be one a rare opportunity to do so and one that your children will truly treasure for years to come.
Where is the session held?
Your session will take place in my dedicated studio in central Tunbridge Wells. There is parking available directly outside.
Do you Work on Weekends?
Most Children's Portrait photography sessions are booked between Monday and Friday, so I recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred date within the school holidays. Occasionally weekend sessions do become available, though these are limited.
How do I book my session?
Please complete an online enquiry form including your child's age and development stage and I will be in touch to answer any further questions you may have and to propose some dates for your photo shoot. Sessions are booked according to my diary availability. Alternatively, feel free to call me to discuss your session. Please be aware that if I am photographing a client, I will not be able to take your call, but please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
When will I see the images?
On the day of your session I will photograph your child in different poses. You will be presented with a collection of at least 20 beautifully edited and printed photographs at your viewing session, which we will schedule to take place approximately two weeks later. This is the exciting moment when you will choose and order your photographs, so I advise that all decision makers are present at this meeting. You can take your selected prints and corresponding digital copies home with you on that day. We will discuss the options for wall art which can be ordered at this stage too.
How much does it cost?
There is a session fee of £100. This covers my time and expertise.
You will choose and order your favourite photos at a separate ordering session. Prices start at £55 for an individual printed image and its corresponding digital copy, and packages from £450 for 10 photographs.
Please refer to the Investment page for more details.
Can I just buy digital files?
All of my collections include both the printed and corresponding digital copies of the photographs that you select. Digital files cannot be bought separately. There is nothing like holding your memories in your hands, and I believe that they deserve to be displayed using only the highest quality, professional materials.
Is there a minimum spend requirement when it comes to ordering my photos?
Absolutely not. You will only purchase the photographs that you love, whether that is a single image or the full collection. There will certainly be no hard sell - I hope that the photos of your beautiful child will speak for themselves.
